The SVP100 covers almost the entire length of the Stour Valley Path and is one of the longest point to point races in East Anglia

This year we want to be able to celebrate our thre

This year we want to be able to celebrate our three time finishers of the SVP50. If you have finished the SVP50 three times or more, you'll be able to pick up a special buff / snood after crossing the finish line.

The buff / snood will also be available to any three time finishers of the SVP100 if you would rather receive it instead of a t-shirt.

You'll be able to find the lovely buff / snood design in our photos 👍

What pace do you need to maintain to complete the

What pace do you need to maintain to complete the SVP100 within the 15.5hr cutoff? Based upon a race distance of 63mi / 101km, it means that participants need to maintain a pace of 14.8 minutes per mile or 9.2 minutes per kilometre. Obviously you need to be a touch faster so that you can spend time refuelling at the six aid stations (and any unofficial aid stations) along the route 😛

Congratulations to all the runners chosen for the

Congratulations to all the runners chosen for the GB & NI Team for the 2025 IAU World 24 Hour Championships! In particular, a huge congratulations to Christopher Kelly who ran his first ever ultra at the SVP100 back in 2019!! In fact, the 2020 Covid edition ended up being his second ultra! He won both races and set the current course record with a blistering time of 8hrs 09.

Chris kindly says “It’s still my favourite race and will always have a special place in my heart. What you guys do with that race is awesome and what it’s all about!! I always recommend it to people I speak to and the people I coach.”

He will be joining good friend @ultra_sophie and 10 other incredible athletes. The SVP100 team will be wishing them all the very best for the Championships in Albi, France, taking place on 18–19 October.

Were you inspired by the London Marathon yesterday

Were you inspired by the London Marathon yesterday? I was really grateful for the opportunity to represent the Trail Running Association who provide the race licence for the SVP races.

Whilst the crowds and atmosphere were absolutely out of this world, I'd much rather have been running the SVP for the following reasons 😉😆

- The aid stations have better treats 🍰
- Less barging and more chat with fellow runners
- Cleaner air (and less smelly) 🚗
- The sound of cowbells probably means real cows 🐮
- You don't feel obliged to run up every hill
- Much easier to spot your supporters along the route 👏
- A cooler finisher t-shirt or the opportunity to plant a tree 🌳

We are currently working on an idea to recognise 3x finishers of the SVP50, so watch this space for further announcements.

In the interim, here are a few interesting facts about the SVP50:

- We have had over 1,000 finishers since the first race in 2018. Roger Garrod became the 1,000th finisher last year 👍
- Typically we see a 94-95% completion rate for the race 👏
- One person has completed the race every year since 2018, namely Sharon Harper 💪
- In the first year of the race, we had 74 female finishers and 52 male finishers 🤩

Pretty sure we are going to see a range of emotions again on the finish line again in August. How do you feel at the end of a big race? Tears of relief, happiness or pain? A big hug or collapse onto the floor? Dreaming of chips or a pint of something refreshing?

Dreaming of the warmth and sunshine? I'm sure we will be wearing our caps and sunglasses before we know it!

This photo was taken from near the start of the SVP50, our 50k event starting from Sudbury and finishing in Brantham. The race was set up to be an ideal entry point into the world of ultra running, with a 9.5hr cut-off and very well stocked aid stations managed by our friendly and helpful volunteers.

With the generous time limit and route markings, you can spend more time enjoying the delightful countryside and villages along the route, with stunning landscapes that were made famous by the painter John Constable.

The Hall of Fame page has been updated. Clive Davey has now completed the 100k an astounding 11 times, just ahead of Philip Honeywood with 10 finishes! 👏

This year saw our first female recipient of the coveted black 5-star t-shirt for completing the 100k five times. Well done Rachel Bodsworth! 💪

Currently we have seen 950 finisher medals handed out in Cattawade / Brantham for the 100k race. Next year we are likely to see our 1,000th finisher, huzzah! Their name is likely to end up in the Hall of Fame 🥳

In total 69 runners finished in Brantham before th

In total 69 runners finished in Brantham before the cut-off in the 100k race, with the men’s race being won by Mark Innocenti from Tring Running Club in 09hrs 02 (includes a 15 minute time penalty) and the women’s race being won by Sarah Sawyer from Arena 80 AC in 11hrs 33. Sarah had battled Anna Brown all the way to the finish and it was a very exciting race. The team prize was won by Colchester Harriers (Allen Smalls, Kate Creak and Holly Weir).

We also had an exciting race in the 50k with 146 runners making it to the finish and Victoria Park Harriers (Kyalo Burt-Fulcher, Valerie Wong and Cat O’shea) won the team prize. The men’s race was won by Louis Sharrock in a new course record of 3hrs 55, and the women’s race was won by Valerie Wong (Victoria Park Harriers) in 4hrs 48.

Thank you to those who hung around towards the end to cheer on the later finishers, in particular Jason King who produced a nail-biting finish with seconds to spare.
