We were very sad to hear the news about Ourea Events last week and many of our friends have been impacted by the announcement. The link below leads to a very interesting and well written article by Ian Corless that discusses some of the issues faced by the wider endurance event industry.Speaking as Race Director for the SVP100, we were fortunate to be able to keep our event going throughout the pandemic with some minor adjustments to the race format following consultation with the local councils. We have also seen minor impact from Brexit as the majority of our runners live in the UK. However, inflation and the cost-of-living crisis certainly impact all events, particularly the small / medium-sized ones where margins are tighter. We want to provide everyone confidence that the SVP100 will continue for the foreseeable future, in large part due to our loyal runners and amazing volunteers, many of whom are involved with the event each year and are members of local running / triathlon clubs.
